Reflection on the class

Over the course of five months I have learned a lot in Beginning Journalism how to interview someone formally, and how to type news stories in the correct format and other things. Journalism is a class that prepares you for Publications where you put together the newspaper. Then you can move on into Yearbook where you basically design the yearbook. When I first started Journalism I thought what did I get myself into. The crazy part was when we typed our feature story and it had to be a minimum of 1,000 words its wasnt even that bad after I typed it I guess I was complaining to much. My favorite project we did was the news story I had a fun time interviewing people. Mr. Gayda is a nice teacher once you get to know him and he is very understandable. Taking Journalism is a good experience because you take up a lot of skills

Life is Too short

  Its crazy how your life can be changed forever in a matter of seconds. Over the thanksgiving break we lost an NC panther on Wednesday November 24, 2010 at 8pm. Leon Basia a sophmore personally I didnt know him but as others morned his death my heart went out to his loved ones. I was just thinking why him was it his time to go no because his life was taken a young age. But they say the good go first. All of his friends and family gave me the impression that he was a great kid. Its just so heartbreaking to hear that especially the day BEFORE Thanksgiving. I havent lose anybody that close to me than a great grandmother and uncles. So I cant say that I feel his pain. I guess its a sign from God that you never know when it will be your time to go. Everything happens for a reason but whats Leons reason I guess God needed him more than we did. He will be missed but NEVER forgotten his life will on this earth for 16 years will be remebered by everyone who know him even and even those who didnt. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time in their life R.I.P Leon.

My favorite

My favorite color is purple. My favorite thing to do is listen to music and I love to take pictures. My favorite activity is to sing. My favorite sport to do is track. My favorite sport is football and my favorite team is the COLTS. My favorite day of the week is thursday because its one more day till Friday. My favorite holiday is Christmas. My favorite artists are Keri Hilson, Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Drake, T.I, Chris Brown. My favorite state is Arizona, California, and New York. My favorite tv show is America’s Next Top Model and Law&Order:SVU. My favorite seasons are Fall and Spring. My favorite food is Shrimp, Chicken, Fish. My favorite fast food restaurants are McDonald’s, Penn Station, White Castle, Applebees, and Fridays. My favorite movies are Toy Story, Honey, Takers and I like scary ones. My favorite actor is Will Smith, Micheal Ealy. My favorite Actresses are Angelina Jolie, Lauren London, and Sandra Bullock. My favorite things to do on the weekend are work, go to the mall, go to the movies, hang out with my cousin, hang with my step mother. My favorite candy is snicker, twix, gummy bears, and skittles. My favorite car is a Mercedes Benz. Those are my favorite….

Twitter and Facebook

More and more each day Facebook and Twitter have grown popular. Twitter was started in 2009 a site where you “tweet” about whats going on and tell people to “follow” you its was where you could see where celebrties were at and doing. Facebook started in 2004 a site where you can update your status a networking site. Also Facebook is where you connect and share with people in your life. Lots of people use the both of these sites, more people like facebook to socialize daily. On the other hand people like Twitter so people can follow them. They are both the same in such a way basically all your business is for the world to see. I have a Twitter but I dont use it because its somewhat difficult and boring. I love my facebook but I know not to put too much out there. I personally like Facebook better because you can do a lot like upload pictures and videos have people comment and like things. You can chat with people if your bored and snoop around. People are even addicted to facebook its like can you go a day maybe even a week without it. Twitter and Facebook are even more popular because they are FREE.

Thanksgiving Feast

Thankful gratitude toward something very often do we take out time to do that. Thanksgiving a day where you actually are thankful for things and life and give  back to those in need. Some people have more than others, and some have less but they are still thankful. Giving back is a great way to show gratitude to those who don’t have anything at all. A couple of people have told me what they are thankful for. Erica stated she is “thankful for family, life period and a job because they are thousands of people that are unemployeed”. Im thankful for “being alive, for waking up every morning in my right mind, for fairly good health, and for a wonderful husband” Eunice said. Taylor said she is thankful for “family, freinds, clothes, shoes and food.” I just realized a couple days ago I am blessed because im 17 years old I have a job, and wonderful family and friends that surround me with love, I go to a good school and have lots of oppurtunites in life so thats what Im thankful for. Thanksgiving a day where the good harvest of Pilgrims are commerated. Sometimes its not so bad to sit downs and just think what a life I have so be thankful you have all you do

Arizona

I moved to Arizona when I was in the 3rd grade. I stayed there for 3 years and moved back in December 2005. I Lived in Arizona with my dad, sister, and 3 brothers. We stayed in Phoenix the wether was too hot you could fry an egg on the side walk. Almost everyday you could go swimming, it would get up to 104 degrees. The best part about Arizona was you could drive to California and it would only take about 4 hours I recall. The worst experience I had was driving back to Arizona from Indiana we were on the mountains and it was raining really badly and the mountains are so steep. I do wanna go back to Arizona I miss it only family I really have down there is my grandpa. Maybe my senior year I will go and visit but I don’t wanna live there any more its too hot and I get irritated in the heat.  The malls in Arizona are really big and theres a lot of stores in them. My favorite place to eat there was Del Taco. When I was in Arizona I missed white castle a lot because they don’t have one down there other than that Arizona is a nice place to live.

Favorite TV shows

I have a lot of favorite TV shows on Mondays I watch the Event, CSI:Miami, and I’m going to start watching Hawaii Five-O today. The event is about this president who has to solve all these problems and there’s someone in the police force that works with them who is a mole. CSI:Miami is about this Detective named Haratio and he has these crimes that he has to solve there’s a lot mystery to them. Hawaii Five-O is about three detectives that figure out mysterious things also. On Tuesdays I watch Without a Trace its about people that go missing without a trace. The detectives have a certain amount of time to find these people alive or dead. On Wednesdays I watch Law&Order:SVU and Americas Next Top Model. SVU is about Stabler and Benson they get these cases and try to figure them out. As you can see I watch a lot of crime shows I love them so much. Top Model my favorite show of all time is about 13 models that are in the running to become the next top model in America its hosted by Tyra Banks. This Wednesday its the last 2 girls who will compete in a fashion show and Tyra will announce the winner.

Baskin Robbins

I have had this job since December of 2009 when it first opened up. its located near Broad Ripple. Its a decent job for the most part I like making the money. Sometimes I do get annoyed by the fact that people come in and don’t know what they want. Baskin Robbins is a fun and really easy job depends on who you work with. I don’t like working with my boss because all she does is tell you a bunch of things over and over again like I haven’t been working there for 11 months. We have 41 ice cream flavors and I still haven’t tried them all yet. The only flavor I really eat is Snicker’s I love it. Now I have come to the point where I don’t eat the ice cream anymore I eat the soft serve with snicker pieces. We sell a lot of  things like sundaes, smoothies, 31 below’s and shakes. I use to hate the job because I was annoyed by everything my boss complained about lots and she didn’t understand we had to get the hang of things. I don’t really work on the school days any more because I couldn’t handle both. I like working the morning shifts because I don’t have to clean up at night time and close.

School

I  think that sometimes the teachers at NC assign way to much homework. They obviously don’t understand that other teachers will assign way more. Then on top of that they give us projects that they make due in like 2 weeks. NC is a good school and they offer lots of things to take advantage of it isn’t such a bad school that people make it seem like. Its just some days you have those times when you get fed up of everything in it. My teachers are somewhat cool this year, in some of my classes I struggle. I plan to keep my grades at all B’s. When colleges look at my transcript I want them to be impressed. Only class I really struggle with is algebra because she makes our tests 70 percent of our grade. I plan on really focusing on school more than anything because I don’t wanna regret anything like failing classes. My job use to come between me and school because I work till 10 and I dont have a chance to do my homework because I be really tired. Now that I work on the weekends its a lot easier balancing the both. Im glad I go to one of the best schools even though I complain.
